| - The Mushrooms of the Natural Reserve of Lake Vico
-
- This page, intended for both experts and devotees, is meant to be an instrument of knowledge and study of the mycological patrimony of the Natural Reserve of Lake Vico. Respecting the intents of the Regional Law # 32, dated August the 5th 1998, - Regulations on the picking and retailing of spontaneous epigeal mushrooms and other products of the brushwood, we will deal with both the edible mushrooms and the inedible and poisonous ones. As a matter of fact, the knowledge of the latter is extremely important not only to avoid poisoning, but also because mushrooms play an extremely important ecological role, and their safeguard is crucial to the equilibrium of the natural ecosystems; moreover, amongst the toxic and poisonous mushrooms we find some of the most beautiful and fascinating species.
-
- Some of the most common mushrooms are described with greater attention. These species were chosen for being both well-known and exemplificative of the characteristics of their own genus. In this way, the "novices" will be able to notice some of the main macroscopic features useful to distiguish them. However, since the features necessary to achieve a certain classification are manifold, we always recommend an analysis of the picked specimen by an expert.
-
- Here is a list of the species growing within the territory of the Reserve - by clicking on each name you will be linked to the relative descriptive profile (only in Italian).
- We invite you to cooperate with us in order to point out any possibile inaccuracy or to report the finding of a new species.
